Individual Therapy

Guelph CBT offers individual psychotherapy for a range of difficulties, including:

  • Anxiety, including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and panic attacks
  • Stress
  • Sleep related problems
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder
  • Prenatal and postpartum mood changes
  • Anger and irritability
  • Lifestyle and behaviour change
  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Body image issues
  • Grief and bereavement support
  • Trichotillomania and compulsive skin picking
  • Adjustment related disorders
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Other emotional difficulties

You will work one on one with your therapist in a supportive and collaborative way to become more aware of the thoughts, behaviours, and emotional responses that may be contributing to the difficulties you’ve been having. You will then learn new skills and strategies to help you change these problematic patterns that may be keeping you stuck.

Group Therapy

Group psychotherapy involves one or more psychotherapists working together with a small group of individuals who share a common problem or concern. It provides a place for individuals to share their experiences, connect with and learn from other people, and receive support and encouragement. Importantly, studies have shown that CBT delivered in a group format is highly effective and, in many cases, at least as effective as individual therapy, providing a cost-effective alternative to individual therapy. Support and connection are especially important for some difficulties that can be isolating and, at times, confusing, such as the transition to new motherhood or when you are experiencing prenatal or postnatal anxiety or depression.

Guelph CBT provides small group CBT for:

  • Insomnia
  • Anxiety
  • Perinatal mental health
  • Social anxiety
  • Panic disorder
  • OCD
  • Depression
  • Bipolar disorder
